うーん、このゲームに関しては、むしろ、ボクの別サイト

を見て頂いたほうがいいような気がしますが、とりあえず書きます。

UltimaOnlineはMMORPGの元祖ですが、EverQuestは3DMMORPGの元祖です。ただ、3Dというだけでなく、役割分担がきっちり分かれた最初のMMORPGでもあります。パーティの連携が絶対的に必要で、それがこのゲームを奥深いものにしています。戦士系のメンバー(Tank)がメインの敵を攻撃し、その戦士を治癒系メンバー(Healer)が治癒し、コントロール系のメンバーがメイン以外の敵の動きを止め、攻撃系魔法使い(Caster, Nuker)がとどめを刺す。それぞれのメンバーが自分の役割を理解して連携をしないと、敵に勝てないのです。そして、その連携がうまくいったときの充実感はUltimaOnlineには無いものでした。
あと、特筆すべきはRaidのことです。1つのボスを倒すために数十人で挑むRaidはEverQuestの代名詞になりました。数十人の人が1つの目標に向かっていく姿は壮観です。EverQuestは対人戦などはPoorといえますが、このRaidの存在で廃人を多数生み出しました(^^;;

あと‥‥‥個人的な意見ですが、EverQuestはオリジナル英語版のほうが楽しいです。なんつーか、外人さんと遊ぶのも楽しいし、なんかシステムも安定しているように思えるし、何しろ人数が多いです。多少の英語が使えないと厳しいですが、中学英語で十分。というか日本人が多いサーバーに行けば、ローマ字だけでNPかも。

そんなわけで、3D系MMORPGの始祖にしてEverCrackという言葉まで生み出したはまりゲームEverQuest。はまりすぎては人生壊しますが、これほどのMMORPGは無いなぁと思っています。
